FIRA - PREHISTORICAL MUSEUM OR SHOPPING
In a sort time we will arrive to the capital city of Santorini, Fira Fira, is a live town where people from all over the island gather through the small narrow streets, the colourful shops, the cafes and the museums. You will have the opportunity to visit the prehistorical museum or you can go shopping. The prehistorical museum of Fira is one of the most important museums in Greece. It hosts findings from the Akrotiri excavations (17th century B.C) such as the “blue monkey” wall painting, “ladies” wall painting, the gold ibex figuring and more.
RED BEACH
Our next station is the famous and unique Red Beach. Situated at the south point of the island, the Red beach attracts many visitors. The red colour of the rocks and the sand in combination with the deep blue waters create a pallet of colours which will astonish you.
PYRGOS VILLAGE
Our tour will continue in Pyrgos Traditional Village.
Pyrgos was built at the highest point of the island and was the capital city of Santorini until 1800 A.D. In this particular place you will discover the medieval Santorini. You will feel the Venetian influence here as well since Pyrgos was one of the 5 castle cities that Venetians established. Pyrgos will give you the perfect opportunity to view and photograph the whole island, walk through the narrow streets and observe the various arches .
PANAGIA EPISKOPI
Under the village of Pyrgos at the road to Kamari, we find the Panagia Episkopi church. The church was built by the emperor Alexios A’ Kominos in the late 11th century. It is one of the most important Byzantine churches and despite the many damages it has suffered through the years it still very well preserved. There you will find the icon of Panagia Glykofillousa, on of the third most priceless portable icons in the world!
VOLCAN WINES WINERY
Our last before returning back to Oia is the Volcan Wines winery. There you can relax, taste and learn why the Santorinian wine is one of the most known and tasteful wines in the world. At the amazing wine museum which is located 8 meters underground, you will learn about the history of wine at the vineyards through moving tools and figures. At the end you will have the chance to taste three of the best wines produced at the Volcan Wines Winery.
